Errand Boy Bio “We get things done.”

My name is Mark Sander, and I am the Founder of Errand Boy, a consulting business for Patient Care Advocacy, or PCA. I have been on a path to starting this business for 11 years now since my wife, Katy, became sick while pregnant with our first daughter. She started having very low blood pressure and regular dizziness during her pregnancy, culminating in her passing out 8 months pregnant at a nail salon. Our first of two daughters was born healthy at full term but my wife's struggles continued to worsen. I was much obliged to handle everything for my wife, which included doing all off the errands, many of which were related to her medical care. One day said to me, "you're my Errand Boy."

Errand Boy consists of a team of patient care advocates, that cover the widest possible array of medical conditions. All of these advocates will share in my passion to help in multiple capacities. To name just a few, taking patients safely to their doctor appointments, verifying all patient medications, and fostering an environment for the patient that is not overwhelming. With every patient service, all of us at Errand Boy will lead with listening first, giving consistent empathy, and hustling each day to leave the patient with peace of mind.

The number of services we provide will be constantly growing to adjust to patient needs. In our advocacy, we will be available to sit with our patients to provide them companionship to keep their spirits high. We will be open to running any errands to make their lives easier, including pharmacy and grocery runs. We also provide transportation for patients to essential appointments. At our core, we will always lead with Service Above Self in patient interactions.

In my 11 years as an Errand Boy, I have prided myself on never resting until I had completed 100% of each task to the best of my abilities. My wife is acutely disabled cognitively and physically, with 30 medical diagnoses. I succeed as her caretaker by compartmentalizing and being laser focused on one thing only at a time. This practice allows for the advocate to be less overwhelmed and highly efficient.

There are hundreds of things I have learned from my time providing care in complex situations. There is a great deal of psychology that goes into getting what you need from each medical practice. Often times, the PCA will need to drive to providers’ offices to make appointments. We use a task tracker to manage activities and deadlines. Overseeing management of all insurance billing is imperative.

Working as an Errand Boy, I do all due diligence with a "never quit" mentality. Being a PCA has given me a sense of fulfillment that I have never had before in my professional career. I wake every day to help people, always leading with my Errand Boy motto, “We get things done.”

Warmly,

Mark Sander

Founder, and always, your Errand Boy

The inception of Errand Boy is an inspiring story of passion and determination. It all began with a deeply personal experience while our founder was taking care of his wife following childbirth. This 12-year experience of patient care advocacy ignited a passion in him for helping others navigate the complexities of the healthcare system by managing medication and other care management services for bedridden patients.
